Born and raised in the Bronx, the birthplace of Hip Hop, Charles Smith, known as Rock Logic, is a multifaceted talent whose journey unfolds like a symphony of accomplishments.
Rock Logic's early exposure to music, courtesy of his father's bass playing for Jazz Legend Thelonious Monk, laid the foundation for his eclectic musical tastes. From Tom Jones to Stevie Wonder, his mantra has always been, "A great song is a great song."
His musical journey kicked off with a set of turntables received as a Christmas gift, leading him to acquire production equipment in high school. At 16, Rock Logic landed his first job at Shelter Studios in NYC, immersing himself in rock and punk music while introducing rap artists to a new clientele.
Teaming up with DJ Jazzy Jay marked his official entry into the rap game, resulting in major successes with Wu-Tang Clan, Da Brat, JAY-Z, Madonna, and Michael Jackson. His standout single, "Shake Whatcha Mama Gave Ya," with Stik-E & The Hoods, showcased his strong and unique voice, solidifying his position among the best of Hip Hop Hype men.
As the owner and operator of Boardwalk Global Media, Rock Logic ventures beyond music, producing audio and visual podcasts, movies, and short films. Streaming platinum singles like "Make Some Music" and "Nowadays," he received a Citation from Bronx Borough President, Ruben Diaz Jr., recognizing his contributions to Hip Hop.
Now, Rock Logic takes a bold step into a new frontier, partnering with the avant-garde artist Butter to form Giant City Media. This collaboration signifies a groundbreaking venture dedicated to creating music, books, and films that transcend conventional boundaries. Beyond his musical and entrepreneurial pursuits, Rock Logic continues to make waves as the Host/Hypeman at live music showcases and the Co-Founder of 1 NYCHA. His commitment to addressing public housing issues nationally is reflected in his role as the Host of the 1 NYCHA Podcast.
A man of many talents, Rock Logic's impact extends to the realm of emergency medical services, where he finds purpose as a paramedic. Having saved seven lives through swift action and CPR expertise, he founded BREATHE CPR in 2011, instructing individuals and organizations and further showcasing his ability to use his voice to excite and educate.
